Only In Casper

David & I went out for dinner the other night. Our destination that night was Applebees. As we were leaving David chuckled and said "Only In Casper". I was like, huh? Only in Casper do the restaurants have to erect a brick wall to protect the entrance from the wind. Yeah, he is right, only in Casper.

Driving Down CY

Who could mind running errands when this is what you get to see as you drive?

Errr, I mean smoking room.

The Second Floor Bathroom

I love how our tiny townhouse has three bathrooms. This bathroom is on the same floor as the bedrooms. Note the shower head. It is a gift from God.

Our small, yet messy kitchen.

Our small kitchen is hard to keep clean & organized. And there is not enough counter space for all of our gadgets. We have to rotate them out. LOL.

Snowing on the Mountain

I took this picture on Friday. It wasn't snowing in Casper, but it sure was on the mountain. I love that hazy look. Today (Saturday) it is snowing so hard in the city that we can't see the mountain at all.

Bedroom

Our bedroom. Note the creative night stands. The walls were that color when we moved in. The window opens up to a fabulous view of the mountain.

This is Bailey Dog's "safe place". He has had one at every house we have lived in. This is where he goes when there is a knock on the door. Or something else spooks him, like his shadow. We all have our safe places, right?

The Basement

This is our messy basement. One thing you will notice as I post the pictures of our house is that we are still sorely lacking in the furniture department. Which is one of the reasons why I haven't posted the rest of the house pictures. Because basically there is nothing but a mess.

I took the first picture standing at the bottom of the stairs. Then the second picture, I was standing under the window looking out. The door at the end leads into a 3/4 bathroom. There is also a storage room off of the bathroom where the hot water heater hides. Note the pretty new exercise bike at the end?

Is it time?

Everyday around 5:00pm I head into the kitchen to start dinner. I putter around the kitchen and usually about fifteen minutes in, Bailey goes trotting by the kitchen. This is what he does. He sits & waits for David to come home. He will sit there & wait until David walks through this door. He has been doing this the last week or so, but it is consistent. He absolutely adores his "daddy" and eagerly awaits his homecoming.

For the love of reading...

This statue is after my own heart. It is also in the park next to the library. The detail is amazing and you if you are curious, they are reading the Bible.

I love you, too!

This is our "command center". This is where we really live. Baby, thank you for bringing me to this wonderful place. I love you!

Light the way...

This is what street lights in Casper look like. All the posts have different "cut-outs" (for the lack of a better term). Pretty cool, huh?

Kids At Play

I have mentioned before how there are brass sculptures all over the city. These kids are located in a park right next to the library & across the street from the museum.

Sorry, guys. I didn't realize I had the comment settings set to "Wacky". There shouldn't be a problem for anyone who wants to comment on the pictures!

Roll down the window? Please?

People in Casper take their dogs EVERYWHERE. It does not matter the time of day or the temperature outside, you can pull into the parking lot of Wal-Mart and find half a dozen vehicles with a dog waiting for their family. We have taken to following local custom. Bailey goes everywhere with us. I think I can count on one hand the number of times we have left him home when we go on an outing. He LOVES his car rides & will cry if the window is not rolled down for him or he feels the trip was too short. We love that silly mutt.

Just A Brick Building

I have no clue what this building is or what it houses, but I thought it looked cool against the backdrop of the mountain. So, of course, I took it's picture!

Wyoming Health Fairs

This is where David works & this is where we are right now. I have been trained to do Data Entry for them on Draw Days, which happens on Thursday mornings from 7 to 11. Unfortunately, there are many other people trained for DE, so I have to wait for my turn in the rotation.

Now, what are Draw Days, you may ask? Well, Wyoming Health Fairs is a non-profit company that helps people by offering low cost blood work. A normal Chem Panel is available for $25. It includes all sorts of things, including checking your thyroid. There are other tests that you can get done, too. Including checking your Vitamin D & for you men, your prostrate. Compared to what a normal lab charges you, WHF is offering a fabulous deal.

WHF also goes out to businesses, schools, offices, to anywhere that is interested in offering this service for their employees.

David is their computer programmer. He writes the programs that they use to track all of the patient information. He is currently working on updating their website, but he mostly works with the program. He works with a great group of people and from the sound of it, Wyoming Health Fairs has great things happening in the near future.

We call that job security in our house.

Oil!!!

Casper is nothing if not an oil town. This rig sits right next to the North Platte River at the corner of Poplar & 1st. Right in the heart of downtown Casper.
